Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she gained her first recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. The following year, her music was circulating around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then on the 13th of November two singles titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, made available with a video on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. As a support act, she toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
